Seller's description

This is an incredible vintage Anton Pieck wooden handbag; purse - lucite handle. Muted decoupage scenes of a horse drawn carriage, buildings, an antique fire truck, the level of detail in the pictures is incredible. There is one area of one panel that has a hairline crack in the piece of decoupage (see pic); inside is in great condition. I was thrilled to find this at a local estate sale. Measures 6" x 5", 4" handle drop.

Evidence

POSITIVE
  • photo 1: clearly handbag-shaped, structured wooden body with a top handle and clasp closure
  • photo 1: decorative decoupage panels depict period-style scenes and horse-drawn imagery
NEGATIVE
  • photo 1: body is a faceted wooden box with decoupage artwork, not a Coach leather or coated-canvas handbag
  • photo 1: no visible Coach wordmark, horse-and-carriage logo, creed patch, or leather hangtag
  • photo 1: hardware and closure are decorative gold-tone fittings unlike identifiable Coach vintage turnlock construction
  • photo 2: lucite-style red handle and wooden lid are inconsistent with the cataloged Coach silhouettes
  • photo 6: top is wood with exposed hinges and no Coach identifier
  • photo 1-4: octagonal wooden box purse with all-over decoupage paper scenes, not glove-tanned leather
  • photo 1-6: wood lid and body with lucite / plastic top handle, not Coach leather and brass construction
  • photo 1-6: no Coach creed patch, no COACH wordmark, no leather hangtag, no turnlock visible
  • photo 3-4: novelty decoupage imagery signed Anton Pieck style, inconsistent with any Coach catalog silhouette
MISSING INFORMATION
  • photo 1-6: interior lining, maker label, and any signature or brand stamp are not shown
  • photo 1-6: close-up of the underside and interior closure hardware would help identify the actual maker
  • seller states the item is signed Anton Pieck, but no signature is legible in the provided photos
  • interior not shown, but irrelevant given non-leather wooden construction
  • no Coach creed or identifier to check - none expected for this type
AUTHENTICITY CONCERNS
  • ⚠ photo 1-6: construction is a non-Coach wooden novelty or decoupage handbag; no Coach identifiers are visible
  • ⚠ photo 1-6: the horse-drawn imagery is artwork on the bag and should not be confused with Coach's horse-and-carriage mark
